Stagehand — Chord Charts (“Stagehand”) is a chord-chart reader for iPhone and iPad published by David Kirolos. This policy describes what the app does with information on your device.
We do not run a backend
Stagehand has no account system of ours and no server we operate. Charts, collections, sets, formatting preferences and projector settings stay on your device (or in a backup you choose to share).
What stays on the device
- Chart files you import or create, including ChordPro, OnSong, text and PDF
- Library organisation, set lists and per-song key or capo settings
- Reader preferences such as fonts, colours and zoom
- A PIN for the optional local web console, stored on the device
- Audio files you import for backing pads or song tracks. Stagehand does not record, does not use the microphone, and does not ship with audio of its own
We cannot see this data. Deleting the app deletes it, unless you first export a backup.
Internet and camera
Stagehand connects to the internet only when you choose From the Web and enter an address; it then loads that page, like a browser, and reads the song off it on your device. Sites you visit there may set their own cookies, and their own privacy policies apply to them. Stagehand keeps a list of the pages you opened there, only on your iPad, so you can open them again; you can delete it at any time from the History button. It is never sent anywhere. It sends no information about you or your library. Scan a Page uses the camera only while you scan, or reads a picture you choose from Photos or Files (Stagehand sees only the pictures you pick), reads the text on the device, and does not keep the pictures. Nothing is sent to us.
Local network
If you turn on the web console, Stagehand advertises a service on your Wi-Fi so a browser on the same network can manage the library. Traffic stays on that network. The console is off until you start it.
If you turn on Start sharing, Stagehand finds and talks to other devices running Stagehand that are near you, over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, to show them the song you have open. Each device is allowed by you, the connection is encrypted, and nothing goes through the internet or a server of ours. A song is not saved on another device unless its owner chooses Save to library. Sharing is off until you turn it on.
Sharing you start
AirDrop, Files, Mail and similar system shares send only what you pick, to destinations you pick. Stagehand does not upload charts in the background.
Planning Center
An optional Planning Center import may appear in some builds. If you sign in, Planning Center (Ministry Centered Technologies) receives the credentials or tokens you provide and returns songs and charts you ask to download. That data is handled under Planning Center’s own privacy policy. Stagehand stores tokens in the device Keychain so you can stay signed in. We do not receive a copy.
What we do not do
- No advertising
- No analytics or crash reporters that send data to us
- No tracking across apps or websites
- No sale of personal information
Children
Stagehand does not target children and does not collect age or parental information. Charts you load are your content.
